Sheriff's Looking Down A Road
Sheriff's Looking Down A Road

The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking volunteers to join our Specials Services Division Search and Rescue Program. This is a new program we are starting and we are currently recruiting qualified personnel to become a part of our organization.

For years the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office has relied on the capabilities of its full time and Reserve Deputy Sheriffs when it comes to emergencies and natural disasters in our area. However, due to the sometimes limited manpower we find ourselves not always able to respond with all of the resources possible.

Our Special Services / Search and Rescue program is recruiting people with specialized skills such as swift water rescue, Scuba Divers, Jet boat operators, K-9 handlers, trackers, EMTs, Paramedics and others to join our team.

If you have these types of skills or training, are available all hours of the day or night and want to make our community a safer place to live, you are just who we are looking for. Firemen and women, military, law enforcement personnel and those of you with medical training are encouraged to apply.

There are however a few requirements. Montana Code authorizes Special Services Officers but requires they have specialized training or skills as specified by the Sheriff to meet the task. You must be 18 years or older, be able to pass a law enforcement designed physical test and last but not least, pass a fairly thorough background investigation.

If this is for you please submit your Notarized Application Packet to the Sheriff's Office. If you would like more information, please contact the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office by email or call us at
